Hidden Symptoms of Uterus Lining Thickening

April 18, 2012

Gynecological problems can bother women from time to time in different periods of life. Some of those problems have vivid manifestations, but some have hidden signs and can be neglected without regular medical examinations. Uterine thickening can be attributed to such issues of hidden symptomatology and is revealed only during medical tests. Thickening of uterus lining most frequently is the cause of hormonal imbalance when progesterone levels are low and estrogen levels go off-scale. When this happens the cells grow more intensely, creating a thick lining at the uterus.

If treated timely, there won’t be any adverse consequences or further complications; but if left untreated, the accumulation of cells might lead to the development of cancerous lining in uterus which is life-threatening. The other adverse effect of neglected uterus thickening is infertility. Uterus is the place where the conception is realized; thus, on any slightest malfunction, the uterus environment might become unfit for the emergence of new life.

Gynecologists differentiate between a dozen of reasons that lead to uterus thickening. In young women the thickening might be provoked by irregular menstrual cycle, weight problems, dieting, intake of medications or diabetes. In older women such condition might develop during the menopause period when there are minor and major malfunctions of all bodily processes.

Being practically asymptomatic, uterus thickening is able to cause minor discomfort or pain. A woman can feel subconsciously that something is wrong: time-to-time pain in the lower abdomen, irregular or painful menstruation, superfluous vaginal discharge with weird smelling, bleeding between the periods. Those are the disturbing signs which might serve the development of uterus thickening problem.

There is nothing terrifying in this condition if diagnosing and treating at the right time, and by means of the right treatment methods. Medications are called to restore the hormonal balance and lower the creation of cells in the lining. Other treatment methods include surgery; it is usually prescribed in case of tumors or cancerous neoplasm.
